How to Cook Simple Pork Sinigang
When we are cooking sinigang, we usually use some ready sinigang mix ingredients. But many of us still uses the natural sinigang ingredients like the fresh sampalok, kamias, Batuan (batwan) and other use vinegars.
Now we are going to make pork sinigang, uses this different kinds of souring ingredients. Here we go.
- 2 lbs pork, cut into cubes
- Radish (labanos or daikon), small diagonaly cut
- Water Spinach (Kangkong)
- String Beans (Sitaw)
- Okra
- Green Chili Pepper (siling labuyo, or any available)
- Onions (chopped)
- Tomato (diced)
- Water
- Salt
- You can also add eggplant if you desire
Souring Ingredients that you can use. Choose only 1 (one)
- Ready-Mixed Sinigang Mix
- Fresh Sampalok
- Batuan (Batwan)
- Kamias
- vinegar
There are different ways to cook sinigang depends on ingredients you use.
Procedure #1:
- Boil water into a large cooking pot.
- Add the pork and cook for 5 minutes.
- In another cooking pot. Heat some oil and saute the onions and tomato.
- Add only the pork. Stir for few minutes and add the broth, the sinigang mix and the green chili pepper (labuyo). Cook until boil.
- Add the radish (labanos)
- (And the eggplant if you have).
- Then add the string beans (sitaw) and okra. Cook until all tender.
- Add the water spinach (Kangkong).
- Add salt to adjust your desire taste.
- Let it cook for few minutes and remove from heat.
- Transfer into bowl and serve with family. Enjoy.
Procedure #2:
- Heat the cooking pot and put some oil.
- Saute the onions and tomato.
- Add the pork. Stir and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add water and boil until the pork is tender.
- Add the sinigang mix and the green chili pepper (labuyo)
- Add the radish (labanos).
- (Add the eggplant if you have).
- Then add the string beans (sitaw) and okra. Cook until all tender.
- Add the water spinach (Kangkong).
- Add salt to adjust your desire taste.
- Let it cook for few minutes and remove from heat.
- Transfer into bowl and serve with family. Enjoy.
How to cook sinigang using fresh souring ingredients?
- In a large cooking pot, saute the onions and tomato.
- Add the pork and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add water and boil.
- Add the souring ingredients like sampalok, kamias, batuan/batwan or the vinegar (just choose only ONE (1).
- Cook until the sour taste combined in water and taste. If your satisfied with the sourness, add the radish (labanos).
- (Add the eggplant if you have).
- Then add the string beans (sitaw) and okra. Cook until all tender.
- Add the water spinach (Kangkong).
- Add salt to adjust your desire taste.
- Let it cook for few minutes and remove from heat.
- Transfer into bowl and serve with family. Enjoy.
