Simple Beef Steak

How to Cook Simple Bistek Tagalog or Beefsteak
When you heard beefsteak, it sounds as special or expensive food. But, Filipino people have their own version of beefsteak. It is known as the "Bistek" or the "Bistek Tagalog". It is much easier to make. So now, we are going to make a simple and easy beefsteak or the Bistek Tagalog. 
Simple Beef Steak
Ingredients:
  • Beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • oil
  • soy sauce
  • garlic (crushed)
  • onions (chopped)
  • lemon or calamansi
  • ground black pepper (pamintang durog)
  • large onions, cut into rings
  • salt
  • sugar
You can cook the beefsteak or bistek tagalog in 2 ways.

Procedure #1:
  • In a large container, combine the beef, soy sauce, lemon (calamansi) and ground pepper. Marinade for atleast 1-2 hours.
  • In a flat cooking pan, heat the oil and add the large onion rings. Don't over cook the large onions. Then Set aside.
  • Fried the marinated beef (not included the marinade sarsa). Then set aside.
  • In another pot, add oil and saute the garlic and onions.
  • Add the remaining marinade sarsa and cook until boil.
  • Add the fried beef and cook until 20 minutes until the beef is tender. (You can add water if needed).
  • Add some amount of salt, sugar and ground pepper. Adjust the taste to your desire flavor.
  • Add the fried large onions.
  • Remove from heat and transfer into serving plate.
  • Serve with family and enjoy.
Procedure #2:
  • In a large container, combine the beef, soy sauce, lemon (calamansi) and ground pepper. Marinade for atleast 1-2 hours.
  • Heat the pan and add oil and fried the marinated beef only. Reserve the liquid. Set aside.
  • In the same pan, add oil. Saute the garlic and onions.
  • Add the fried beef and mix.
  • Add the reserve liquid from the maridated beef earlier. Add water if necessary and cook until the beef is tender.
  • Add the large onion rings.
  • Add small amount of salt and sugar. You can also add ground pepper or (lemon juice) calamansi juice if you want. Follow your desire taste.
  • Simmer for 2-3 minutes and remove from heat.
  • Serve with hot rice and enjoy.
Other suggestions:
Some people sprinkles onion leaves or parsley into their beefsteak to make it more special.
Other people also put baby corn or asparagus.
